A fantastic example of an early-1980s Ludwig Classic drum kit, finished in the iconic Blue Sparkle wrap. Made in Chicago, USA, this four-piece kit features Ludwig's thick 6-ply maple/poplar shells, natural wood interiors, rounded Blue & Olive badges, and classic Ludwig hardware.
Dating to approximately 1980–1981, this kit comes from Ludwig's celebrated Chicago production era and features the powerful, full-bodied sound associated with the company's 6-ply Classic shells.

Shell Construction
Introduced in 1976, Ludwig's 6-ply Classic shell construction represented a significant evolution from the company's earlier 3-ply shells.
These thicker, multi-ply maple/poplar shells feature natural, clear-coated wood interiors and a reinforcement-ring-free design. Known for their strong projection, powerful attack, and full low-end response, the 6-ply shells became a defining feature of Ludwig's late-1970s and early-1980s professional drum kits.
Paired with the oversized 24" bass drum and 13"/14" rack tom configuration, this kit delivers the big, commanding sound associated with classic rock drumming.
