Slingerland 1948 Radio King Drum Kit in Black Diamond Pearl

Drum shells are classic mahogany/poplar/mahogany with maple reinforcing rings.

The wrap is a beautiful Black Diamond Pearl that is in exceptional condition.

The bass drum is outfitted with the Brass & Tan Cloud Chicago badge indicating manufacture between 1946 and 1948.

The lugs on the 13" Tom Tom, 16" Floor Tom, and 26" Bass Drum are all No. 561 nickel "Large Beavertail" lugs. These lugs began being used in 1948, this combined with the badge suggests these drums are from 1948 and are among the earliest drums to have used the large beavertail lugs.

The 3 drums 13" Tom Tom, 16" Floor Tom, and 26" Bass Drum were from an Ensemble 1-N Gene Krupa Deluxe Radio King Ensemble.

The 12"x14" Tom is a No.1403 Radio King Tunable Separate Tension Tom Tom from the earlier 1940s and has the nickel "streamlined" lugs and was added to the kit later, however, the condition of the wrap is in almost identical condition to the rest of the kit making it blend in seamlessly.

The kit consists of a No. 1401 9"x13" Radio King Tom Tom, this drum features 12 large beavertail nickel lugs, original flanged edge nickel hoops (with Slingerland Radio King engraved on the batter side hoop), original No. 972 tension rods, No. 974 clips, and No. 1080 Harold R. Todd Internal Tone Control. This Tom Tom has additional holes drilled indicating that a different tom mount may have been used.

12"x14" No. 1403 Radio King Tom Tom, with 12 streamlined nickel lugs, original flanged edge nickel hoops (with Slingerland Radio King engraved on the batter side hoop), original No. 972 tension rods, No. 974 clips, and No. 1080 Harold R. Todd Internal Tone Control.

16"x16" No. 1405 Radio King Floor Tom, with 16 large beavertail nickel lugs, original flanged edge nickel hoops (with Slingerland Radio King engraved on the batter side hoop), original No. 972 tension rods, No. 974 clips, No. 1080 Harold R. Todd Internal Tone Control, and No. 1290 "Can't Slip Clutch" Floor Tom leg brackets and legs.

14" x 26" No. 306A Radio King Bass Drum, with 20 large beavertail nickel lugs, No. 721 nickel Giant Spurs, N0. 684A Double Grip hooks and No. 978 rods. This drum set also comes with 2 No. 1285 nickel Bass Drum Hoop Holders for mounting the Tom Toms, a No. 935 Shur Grip Bass Drum Muffler, a No.1357 combination holder, a No. 1377 4 1/2" cowbell, and a No. 798 medium woodblock. 

Also included with the kit is a No. 761-18 18" Slingerland Cymbal Holder and a RIMS 14" 8-lug Floor Tom Suspension mount for the 12"x14" tom to be used as a floor tom.
